1. The navigation acts were imposed in the mid 1600's continuing through the 1700's  by Great Britain to maximize the profits made by the Empire and its entities through trade. The acts forbade the importation into England of all goods except in English ships or ships from the exporting country, eliminating third party carriers. They also forbade certain colonial articles from being shipped to any country besides England to keep them away from competitors.  What was the valuable commodity coming from "The Gateway to the Caribbean"  that was protected by the Navigation Acts during the time Nelson was in command?
